The Girl Who Should Have Been Here

Sometimes I wonder what the outcome would have been if Allana had passed the university cut-off score.

The funny thing is, I knew Allana’s name before I even knew her face. During the pandemic our batch was split into two separate groups, so we didn’t actually see everyone in person. I was classmates with AJ, and his friends were never subtle about teasing him whenever Allana’s name came up. I heard her name so often that by the time I finally saw her, she already felt like someone everyone knew.

Allana has been my classmate since 10th grade. She’s gorgeous, with a beautiful facial structure and the kind of voice people stop talking to listen to. She sings like an angel, plays volleyball, and even knows taekwondo. She can be boyish and playful one moment, then effortlessly feminine the next. In short, she’s what people would call the total package.

But what impressed me most about her was how smart she was. Allana could explain mathematics so simply that it felt like a child learning how to spell “apple.” She had that rare ability to make complicated things feel easy.

So when the university results came out, I was surprised.

She didn’t pass the cut-off score.

But I did.

Me.

An average student who only managed to get honors at graduation.

Now I sit in lecture halls surrounded by top students from different regions. They’re brilliant, confident, and intimidating in ways I can’t fully explain. And sometimes, while listening to professors talk about difficult subjects, my mind drifts to a strange thought:

What if Allana were here instead of me?

She would probably be admired by everyone. Some students would envy her, others would want to be her friend. Either way, it would be impossible not to notice her. She has that kind of presence — the kind that fills a room without trying.

I imagine her acing classes like biochemistry and anatomy, impressing professors with how quickly she understands things. I imagine the compliments she would receive, the recognition from faculty, the quiet admiration from classmates.

She would probably be everyone’s crush, too.

But Allana isn’t here.

I am.

And sometimes I don’t know which is worse: the thought that she should have been here… or the quiet fear that maybe I don’t belong here at all.

Francesca Bridgerton, Michael Vs Michaela

Let’s Talk About Bridgerton

You probably know Bridgerton — the number one series on Netflix when it first released back in 2020. It’s been about six years now, and somehow the excitement around it hasn’t faded. Fans around the world fell in love with Daphne and Simon, and honestly, they’re a big reason why Bridgerton became the huge success it is today.

Season 1 introduced us to the world of the Bridgertons with romance, drama, and beautiful costumes that felt almost magical. Watching Daphne and Simon’s story unfold was unforgettable, and for many people it was the start of a long obsession with the series.

Then came Season 2, which in my opinion was perfection. The enemies-to-lovers trope between Kate and Anthony was everything. The tension, the slow burn, the stolen glances — it was the kind of romance that keeps you watching episode after episode. And honestly, who would have thought we’d all be swooning over Anthony Bridgerton when the actor himself is openly gay? It just proves how powerful good storytelling and acting can be.

Season 3 had a few issues, but don’t get me wrong — I still loved Polin. Watching Penelope and Colin’s relationship finally come into the spotlight felt satisfying after so much buildup.

And now with Season 4 on the horizon, I’m curious to see what happens next. Fans have been talking a lot about Benedict, and I remember seeing edits and reels on TikTok asking how they could possibly give him a glow-up when he already looks perfect. Somehow I feel like the show will still surprise us.

I’m also really excited about Eloise’s future season. She’s such an interesting character — independent, curious, and not entirely convinced by society’s expectations. I can’t wait to see who she eventually ends up with.

However, as excited as I am for Eloise’s story, I’m also a little nervous about Francesca’s storyline. Francesca is actually one of my favorite Bridgertons, and I’m hoping the show does her story justice.

I started reading some of the siblings’ books before eventually getting to Francesca’s. Before that, Anthony and Kate’s book was my favorite. But after reading Francesca’s story… everything changed. It was emotional, beautiful, and completely unforgettable.

And honestly? After finishing it, I found myself wanting Michael Stirling back. Not Michaela — Michael. HOW DARE THEY. My heart literally aches for him. Give me Michael, give me my Shayla, don’t replace perfection.

ill rant some more tomorrow i have a test today

 Welcome to Jane Interrupted^^

Hello, and welcome to my little corner of the internet.

I created Jane Interrupted as a space where I can write about the things that fill my days and my mind. Life rarely moves in a straight line, and neither do my interests. This blog is a collection of those interruptions — the thoughts, lessons, and curiosities that come up along the way.

Here you’ll mostly find posts about everyday life, cooking, and the random interests that catch my attention. Sometimes writing things down helps make sense of them, and sometimes it’s simply nice to share small moments and ideas.

I enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, especially simple meals and comfort food. Food has a way of slowing things down for a moment, and it’s something I always find worth sharing.
You’ll probably also see posts about personal thoughts and reflections — things I notice during the day, small experiences, or ideas that stay on my mind longer than expected.

And of course, there are my nerdy interests — the books, topics, and curiosities that make me want to read more, learn more, or just think a little deeper.

This blog isn’t meant to be perfect or polished. It’s simply a place to write things down, follow curiosity, and share pieces of life along the way.

If you’re here reading this, thank you for visiting Jane Interrupted.

I hope you find something here that makes you pause, think, or smile.
